Snowmageddon is a simple third-person wave-based action game about throwing snowballs at the children who built you. You play as the infamous Rick Frost, an evil snowman intent on terrorizing the playground. Purchase incremental upgrades and special items/abilities to stand against the increasing onslaught of children set on taking you down.
This game was built in 3 weeks for the 2025 Gamgam Jam with the theme: "You Are The Villain." Each week me and my teammate, Hannah Nicoletta, created a devlog to document our development process. Hannah was the Lead Artist for the game, tackling all the modelling, animation, environment, and UI. I was the Lead Programmer, implementing Hannah's assets in-engine and designing + developing all the different gameplay systems in C# and Unity.
Working on Snowmageddon taught me so much, from approaching enemy AI state machines to developing gameplay features that felt fun and polished for the player to use. Our central pillar during development was to make throwing snowballs at kids as enjoyable as possible, leading us to implement lots of feedback on hits, using rigidbody physics to send kids flying in the air, and developing abilities for the player to help them control large numbers of kids.
